We have received yet to be officially confirmed information that NEDTL club member Robert Bowman has been offered the male lead in a remake of the hit musical "GREASE" following his impromptu performance at Newby on Saturday evening.
Mr Bowman who does all his own stunts was today unavailable for comment.
News from New Zealand
We recently received an e mail from Jill Stephenson ( Nee Walton) who along with her tandem driver Dad Jeff and family moved to New Zealand. She regularly views our website and agreed to send us information about Carriage driving in New Zealand.
Hi Alwin Jill here
I have been having trouble with my email so not sure if you got my reply re driving in New Zealand etc.
We have been checking out all of the photos from your events & John Stafford keeps us up to date with what he has been up to & all very jealous as it has rained far more this winter than we have been used to the last few years.
We are having a pot luck dinner this Saturday with our local Christchurch carriage driving club, Alan has a horse racing game rigged for us so hopefully I will get some photos & forward them to you.
Not sure if you knew but Dad brought Blue with him when he emigrated & has been driving him here. I will forward some photos for you when I find them!
I’ve attached here a friend of ours Yvonne Weal who drove her welsh cob ‘Draytown Trooper’ to victory at Horse of the year in March 2010.

"Stan the Man" Hula Hoops for Charity
Club stalwart Stan Ellis raised a substantial amount for charity at the recent club competition held at Nidd Hall by performing a sponsored "Hula Hoop".
Stan promised to hula hoop with two hoops if people would donate to Pat Cooper's grandaughters charity "Wish upon a Star"
Stan ever the joker did complete the challenge by hula hooping two hoops around his arms!!
WELL DONE STAN!
£6500 Raised for our supported charity from "Sponsored Drive 2010"
The weather once again was kind for the 7th Sponsored Drive, held in Escrick Park, by kind permission of Mr & Mrs Charles Forbes Adams in aid of 'Help the Heroes'.
The event proved to be an excellent prelude to the season for the 40+ turnouts entered which included several visitors. Course designers Douglas Strachan and Club President Derek Holah put on something for everyone, with a choice of three routes available depending on the drivers preference and the fitness of their horse.
Six optional obstacles were available a nice touch being three in section 'A' and the rest towards the end of section 'E' giving the horses and drivers a breather. The obstacles were simply flagged up to gate 'D' ensuring that drivers were able to drive them from the obstacle drawings without too much trouble.
The club would like to thank Sheila Hawking and all the team for their time and efforts in staging this drive, also a big thank you to the sponsors and drivers who have been so supportive of this very worthwhile charity In raising the fantastic total of £6500.

MEMBERSHIP DETAILS:
As I’m sure you all know, as we keep a list of members we are bound by the Data Protection Act 1998. This means that we cannot divulge any of your contact information to anyone else without your permission. This has caused the membership secretary some difficulty as apparently she is often contacted by one person in the club wanting the telephone number of another! Being bound by the DPA, she is of course unable to give this information out.
However, we know that some other clubs produce lists containing names, addresses and telephone numbers for their members, which is then given out to all the members. We would like to know therefore, what your thoughts are on this. It is something we could perhaps think about doing for next year, assuming we have specific permission from each person on the list. Perhaps a “tick-box” could be included on the membership form? In the meantime, please don’t ring Joanne up for anyone’s contact details – she can’t give them out!
