Hi Trisha, just wanted to let you know that we believe that someone
attempted to take my mare at the weekend, she was found trapped at the other
side of the stream leading into the next field (but couldn't get through
although it has been cleared when we went down today). It is highly unlikely
that she would have gone there on her own as she would have had to duck
right down to get under the tree, we did find grey hairs that had been
scraped off on the tree so we know that she went that way.

I went up today and found a single plait in her mane, nobody at the yard has
done it and it was a definite plait rather than a tangle. Also in the past
few days my friend, Paula, has had people coming to the door asking for
scrap, the same thing happened last time she had her horsebox and all her
tack stolen. We have moved the horses but there has definitely been someone
at the place where we believe that they tried to take Saff out into the next
field as things were disturbed and there were footprints that aren't ours.

Hope that you're well.

Take care

This is a message from Hampshire Horsewatch

To All

Please note the following…..

A SCANIA Horse Box VRM 4813TR valued in excess of £80,000 was stolen from Wangfield
Farm, Wangfield Lane, Curdridge between 17/4/2010 & 18/4/2010
The Registration Detail  record shows this vehicle as ‘White’ although clearly now ‘Silver’.
This is recorded as a Hampshire crime.
If you have any information regarding this, please contact Hampshire Constabulary  quoting crime
reference 44100156065

Please note:

This vehicle may be hidden at present and the thieves/handlers waiting opportunity to sell it. Although the identity may be changed i.e. colour, registration number, plate details, the thieves/handlers will not be able to change what it is…a very big and expensive Scania horse box.  Anyone considering buying such a vehicle has to have money set aside, get a loan etc because even a stolen one is going to cost money!!

In order to find this Scania Horse Box horse owners are asked to look out for this particular model and note where and when they saw it, the registration number, and details of the persons with it. Any sightings  to be reported to the investigating officer..see details below.

Anyone lucky enough to be able to afford such a horse box should seriously  consider who they are buying from. Bona fide sellers, private or in the trade will be able to prove ownership, history of the box and in the circumstances welcome examination of the vehicle…………if there are doubts then call the police.

If you have bought such a Scania Horse Box since the 18th April 2010 then please contact the investigating officer.

Stolen horse boxes and horse trailers do not necessarily invoke as much interest or emotion as a house burglary but they are still property and in this case the stolen horse box is valued at £80,000

With your help this Box may be recovered sooner or later.

A photograph of the Box is attached below.

[Redcar & Cleveland Community Messaging - redcar - Farm Watch Update 25/2/10]

Farm Watch Incident Update - following the theft of a Mitsubishi Shogun from Pontac Farm, New Marske on Tuesday 16th February 2010 police intelligence indicates there is a team of criminals from Durham with contacts in North Yorkshire and Cleveland  driving around farms at all hours of the day and night looking for vehicles to steal.  It is strongly suggested that vehicles are NOT left unattended, at anytime, with keys in the ignition.

Overnight 20th/21st February 2010 an unknown person attempted to steal a Man Trucks horse box from Saltburn Riding School, Saltburn. Entry was via an insecure cab door and damage was caused to the steering column and ignition.

A blue Ford Transit van NU03 XZZ with three male occupants one wearing a HI VIZ vest were seen acting suspiciously in Dunsdale Village, Guisborough.

A small trailer with tools, shovels, picks and a jerry can was stolen from the Sita UK Compound, Dunsdale, Guisborough on 15th February 2010.

Please remain vigilant at all times and don't hesitate to contact the police on 01642 326326 should you see anyone acting suspiciously.

Circulated earlier a brown and cream iveco ford stolen from Moss Doncaster Inside the horsebox were photostatted copies of horse passports for 54 horses.

PLEASE be vigilant.  Protect your horses.  Think about security.  Security mark animals and tack. Keep a note of people and/or vehicles acting suspiciously in the area.  Don't make it easy for them.
